Workshops & Projects

Not only does Shoddy create laugh out loud comedy, we also create our own bespoke workshops as well.

Over the years we have partnered with charities to produce free theatre workshops for children and adults in a bid to make theatre more accessible to all.

We have hosted workshops in new writing, clowning, stage combat and so much more.

In 2023, Shoddy was awarded arts council funding to bring theatre workshops to low socio economic areas in the North East. In our workshops we toured to  areas such as North & South Shields, County Durham, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Northumberland. The goal was to give young children an insight into how a creative team devises work, with the use of games and improv techniques. eventually the children put their new skills to the test and devised their own piece.

We have seen the impact these have on an individual and how much in can improve their confidence and ability to communicate.

If you feel these workshops will be a benefit to your school, youth group, drama society etc, please get in touch at: [email protected]

Queens Platinum Jubilee

In June, 2022, for the Queens Jubilee, Shoddy teamed up with the charity Building Self Belief (BSB)  to provide a series of theatre workshops, for the children of Tow Law Primary, with the goal of devising their own show for local residents.

The children worked extensively with BSB to research the Royal Family and events in the Queens life. Then as a company we came together and used their findings, to help facilitate and develop a story of their own.

The final part of the project was to perform the show in front of local residents who had been invited along to celebrate the Queens Jubilee.
